Located 70 miles south on US Hwy 55, with 16 miles of dirt roads that can be impassable in inclement weather. Access is via US Hwy 550 to CR 7900/7950. Chaco Canyon was a major regional center of ancestral puebloan culture from A.D. 850 to 1200. A visitors center and campground are located at the park. No additional services are available. Chaco Culture National Historic Park visitors center is open 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. year round, closing on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's days.
